Job SummaryLocal 340 Salary: $48.59 hourly Work Location:
Minneapolis, MN (501 W 61st Street) Performs welding and layout
work on new and replacement gas main and service installations
including those designated as transmission lines; welds as
necessary to install and maintain the distribution system; makes
welded repairs on vehicles and equipment; welds specialty items for
various departments; and also fabricated distribution regulation
post, loops and meter sets. Essential Functions
- Welds on all gas mains and service installations including
those designated as transmission lines to accomplish the
installation and maintain the life of the gas mains and
services.
- Completes layout work related to the installation, abandonment,
relocation and offsetting of distribution and transmission gas
mains and service lines.
- Gathers materials and fabricates distribution regulation post,
loops and meter sets.
- Makes welded repairs to extend the working life of our vehicles
and equipment. and/or make changes and safety modifications.
- Cuts, bevels and trims metal and uses flame cutting torches and
appropriate approved power tools.
- Welds specialty items such as blank couplings and welding cover
sleeves for various departments.
- Maintains adequate stock of materials and supplies used for the
purpose of welding.
- Responsible for maintenance of welding equipment to maximum
performance. Education Description
- Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of
English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division and the calculation of fractions and percentages), grammar
and punctuation. Experience
- Requires one (1) year equivalent welding experience on either
pipe or plate or one year welding degree.
